What’s on Sky Sports this month? October’s essential viewing schedule

Top watches for the sporting month ahead.

Another month brings another lot of top live sports on Sky Sports. Check out what’s coming up on Sky Sports this month across their 12 channels.

Football on Sky Sports

The Premier League is in full swing and it looks as though we’ll be in for an interesting campaign, although you also can’t ignore the competition from the leagues below.

Another unfortunate international breakwill be coming during the month, but following that will be some exciting fixtures for us all to enjoy!

Sunderland vs Leed United | Friday 4th October at 8pm | Sky Sports Football

Looking to the Championship, there will be a clash at the top as current second placed Sunderland welcomes current fifth placed Leeds.

A win for Leeds would see them hop above Sunderland, who are only one point ahead, while the three points for the hosts could see them take the top spot depending on how other results go.

Aston Villa vs Manchester United | Sunday 6th October at 2pm | Sky Sports Main Event & Premier League

Aston Villa will have their sights set on a place in the top four once again, and with Manchester United back in struggle mode, this could be their chance to do so.

Although that is easy said then done, as United aren’t quite down and out from the season just yet. Could they spring a surprise result at Villa Park?

Leeds United vs Sheffield United | Friday 18th October at 8pm | Sky Sports Football

Back to the Championship as two of last seasons unlucky relegated sides will go at it once again.

Both are hanging around the playoffs spots but are one good result (and some favourable ones elsewhere) from jumping into the automatic spots, so while there is a good ways to go to the end of the season, any good result will be beneficial to each’s campaign.

Liverpool vs Chelsea | Sunday 20th October at 4:30pm | Sky Sports Main Event & Premier League

With Chelsea finally seeming to find their way with all the tremendous talent they have on offer, they are becoming a strong force to be reckoned with.

Up against Liverpool on Matchday 8, this is sure to be a high-scoring affair filled with entertaining moments and excitement.

Arsenal vs Liverpool | Sunday 27th October at 4:30pm | Sky Sports Main Event & Premier League

A true heavyweight clash between two teams who will no doubt be fighting to dethrone Manchester City throughout the year.

Mikel Arteta may be the more tenured Premier League manager from the two sides, but if there’s one thing for certain, Arne Slot has certainly taken to the Liverpool job with ease and has them firing in a way even his predecessor was unable to do in the last couple of years. This could and should be one tasty matchup.

Formula 1 on Sky Sports

Only six rounds remain, two triple headers to finish off the year, with the first coming towards the end of this month.

The Drivers’ Championship is still on the line, so every race is going to be a must-watch. Be sure to tune in for the remainder of the season.

United States Grand Prix | 18th - 20th October | Sky Sports F1 HD

First up on the triple header will be the United Statest GP, with the Circuit of the Americas always capable of producing an interesting affair.

Max Verstappen will need the win again this year, with Lando Norris breathing down his kneck in the championship.

Mexico City Grand Prix | 25th - 27th October | Sky Sports F1 HD

Like the circuit before, the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is more than capable of providing an exciting affair, as it did last season.

The hometown hero Sergio Perez certainly could use the boost of a win there, undoing the bad memory of last seasons disarsterclass.

Cricket on Sky Sports

ICC Women’s T20 World Cup | 3rd - 20th October | Sky Sports Main Event & Cricket

10 of the best international sides in Women’s cricket will converge on the United Arab Emirates for the 2024 edition of the ICC T20 World Cup.

Defending champions Australia, who have in fact won the last three editions, will certainly be the ones to beat, with England the most likely candidates to dethrone them.

Every game during the tournament will be shown live on Sky Sports so you won’t miss a moment.

Golf on Sky Sports

The PGA Tour main season has now finished following Scottie Scheffler’s victory at the FedEx Cup Championship.

There are still tournaments to be played, though not on the PGA Tour but rather on the DP World Tour; however, these events aren’t considered major and don’t feature many (if any) of the top world stars.

Tennis on Sky Sports

ATP 1000: Shanghai Masters | Until 13th October | Sky Sports Main Event, Tennis & +

The four Grand Slams are now complete but there is still plenty to play for; prize money, ATP Tour points and most importantly bragging rights are all still on offer, and the ATP 1000 events are a great time to pick up any of those.

The Shanghai Masters is already underway, with qualifiers starting on Monday and ending today. The tournament starts officially on Wednesday, although the top names such as Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner won’t be in play until Friday 4th.

WTA 1000: Wuhan Open | 7th - 13th October | Sky Sports Main Event, Tennis & +

Echoing the above entry, the Women’s tour will also be in China, competing in the WTA 1000: Wuhan Open.

Defending champion and three-time Grand Slam winner Aryna Sabalenka and world number one Iga Swiatek heads the entry list, which also includes the entrie Top 25-ranked players, so this is sure to be a hotly-contested affair.
